tips for using twitter as a blogger

Social media is such a powerful tool for bloggers, to help increase your traffic and SEO, i’ve put together some tip’s to help you on your way.

1. Quality over Quantity

It’s really important not to be spammy when promoting your post’s on twitter, as you don’t want to annoy people causing them to click unfollow.

2. Tweet your top content several times

Twitter is so fast moving and people click on at such different times, they may have missed your post, be sure to experiment with wording and different times of the day and make sure to keep a record of what works. A lot of content may be ‘evergreen’ and stay valuable for ever. Also instead of just giving the link, try asking people’s opinions, questions or even quotes from your article, and find out what work’s best for click through’s.

3. Pin Twitter post’s

Something new and fabulous I’ve learnt recently, that I don’t feel many people know about?! On the desktop version of Twitter, when you click on those three dot’s beside a post, you can pin it to the top of your feed, so all other post’s appear below it. A great marketing tip, if you really want a post to always be seen.

4. Custom hashtags

A great way to gather an identity and status as a blogger or brand. creating a hashtag about a post where people can share their thoughts and have discussions on your post’s subject is a great way to increase your reach.

5. Thank new followers

When someone follows you, you could @ them to thank them for the follow or favorite something on their feed as an icebreaker and hopefully build a relationship, especially to fellow bloggers or potential readers.

I hope you find these post’s useful and please share around the blogging community!
