A day in Birmingham with National Express.

On Sunday, we decided to pay a visit to Birmingham to do some shopping and do some sightseeing and soaking up the atmosphere. We opted to go with National Express as finding car parking in Birmingham city centre, is a challenge and very expensive.National Express is the largest operator of scheduled coach services in the UK operating high-frequency services linking more than 540 destinations, while also operating to London airports, so a good option if you are looking to get to the airport with ease?

Travelling by coach is the most environmentally friendly form of public transport – generating up to five times less Co2 per passenger than the average car journey, so this is a great option as I am always looking for ways to be more eco-friendly.

Getting the coach was so easy, we hopped on at Shrewsbury bus station and in one hour,20 minutes, we arrived in Birmingham. The coach has leather seats and free wifi on-board which is amazing!? as trains and car’s usually don’t. Birmingham bus station was also super easy to work your way around and a lovely clean station with interactive boards. It felt a very luxious travel experience and one I would recoomend, as the tickets are so affordable – lot’s of them are £5!

Birmingham Bullring

We had a good four hours in the city centre before getting the bus back, which was the perfect amount of time. We went for coffee, lunch, visited Grand Central and even ventured over to the Mailbox. If you haven’t visited Birmingham before and want to do more than just visit the shops. Brindley place, Grand Central and The Mailbox are a great option as they are slightly away from the hustle and bustle and the canels are beautiful.

The Mailbox has a wide variety of resturants, shops and coffee shops in a beautiful location, where you can go at a bit of a slower pace. Harvey Nichols is well worth a visit, as the store is gorgeous!

Overall we had a lovely day and if you are looking to travel to a city or an airport, I would recommend looking into National Expess, as they even have space for your luggage. The buses are very comfortable and the driver was lovely.
